Questions/Answers

·  I am an IS student Consult the MS in IS FAQ page

·  I submitted a proposal but my proposal evaluation does NOT appear in the link above It appears if and only if you filled out the on-line form CS 102 promptly and completely. If you did, go to the person responsible for CS closed courses and ask him about the status of your proposal. For proposals submitted for Fall/Summer 2001 or later, form CS102 is REQUIRED; if you don't fill it out, your proposal will be rejected.

·  My proposal was accepted. What do I do? Register for CIS 700B; since it is a closed course, you must go to the person responsible for CS closed courses and ask him to sign the closed course form for you.

·  My proposal was rejected. What do I do? Go to the graduate advisor (during announced office hours) and inquire the reasons for the rejection. You can take the two course alternative or resubmit a proposal next semester.

·  My proposal was marked REVISE/REVNOAD/REVNTL. Go to the graduate advisor and inquire about the reasons for the revision.

·  What is that form I have to complete for Master's Project Proposal? On-line Form CS 102 in the Forms section.

·  My proposal is ready but today is the deadline, and I can't find my project advisor to sign it Ask your advisor to sign it early enough to avoid such problems. Note that April 15, for example, is the deadline for federal and state tax returns. Your advisor may be quite busy that day... DO NOT ASSUME THAT YOUR ADVISOR WILL BE IN THE OFFICE ON THE DEADLINE.

·  What if I cannot find an advisor? You must replace the project with two advanced courses.

·  Who can serve as a project advisor? Tenured and tenure-track faculty members (i.e. those who held the rank of distinguished professor, professor, associate professor, assistant professor). You can find a list of such faculty members through a link in the Information section of this page.

·  What's the difference between a project advisor and a graduate advisor? A project advisor is the project supervisor. A graduate advisor is your course/academic advisor.
